About

A LIFE CHANGING HACK CHALLENGE FOR GIRLS AND WOMEN!

The second edition of the annual Dubai All–Women Hackathon in February 2016 will bring together wannabe women tech-entrepreneurs to hack in 48 hours. Building on the strong foundation created by last year's event, the 2016 Hackathon will be themed 'Smart Cities for Women'.

According to the UN, smart cities are safe cities, and therefore, inherently promote gender-equality. In smart cities, technology and innovation develop physical and social infra- structure that supports freedom of work and movement for all residents. Engaging women in the design, creation, and planning of these cities is necessary to ensure that their specific needs and concerns are addressed.

Smart Cities for Women, the All-Women Hackathon theme this year, challenges teams to use technology and innovation to design mobile applications for such cities. These applications allow women to empower women and create smart opportunities for both women and men.
