Women in STEM 2015 Highlights

Under the patronage of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Maktoum Bin Juma Al Maktoum, The Meera Kaul Foundation organized Women In STEM 2015 Hackathon, Conference, and Awards on 14th and 15th of January 2015 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The conference was attended by over 300 women from the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) from UAE, Yemen, Jordan, Lebanon, Kenya, Algeria, Egypt, United States and India. The event consisted of three parts- Conference, Awards and Hackathon.

At the Women in STEM Conference around 25 top innovators and Industry Gurus from STEM delivered a series of presentations, touching on the most pressing topics like Gender roles in Middle East and East Africa; Working with Men; Women and War; Fundraising challenges; How to fund your start up; Family and entrepreneurship; Leadership.

The Conference was followed by the WISTEM Awards Ceremony. The WISTEM Awards recognized the women executives and entrepreneurs in STEM domain for their exceptional performance, across countries, products, services and solutions.

Divided over two days, Dubai witnessed the first All Women Hackathon on 14th and 15th January 2015, at Canadian University Dubai. The event included an intensive 2-day session, demonstrating the capabilities of women programmers to develop engaging mobile gaming applications.
